MUSIC IN NORTHUMBRIA ACF
Northumbria ACF proudly boasts its own band. The Cassino Band of Northumbria Army Cadet Force is a cadet youth band which is made up of cadets and adults from the many locations around the County.
Who Are We?
• Cassino Band is a detachment within Northumbria ACF which was founded in 2001.
• We take our name from the famous Battle of Monte Cassino in honour of the soldiers who fought there in February 1944.
• We have adopted the Fusilier cap badge to honour the 1st and 2nd Battalions of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers who fought together at the battle.
• We are in fact the only band ever to have played at the abbey of Monte Cassino.
• Our aim is to specialise in music tuition for people between the ages of 12 and 18 of varying musical ability.
What We Do!!
• The band's performances range from seated concerts to complex marching displays and black light drum shows.
• Our highly experienced instructors teach young musicians with any level of ability how to play and improve on a wide range of instruments.
• We travel all over the UK and Europe to play at various events. So far the band has travelled to places such as France, Germany, Holland, even as far as Italy!
• We are not only dedicated to teaching music. As well as being a charity, we also find it important to support other charities by taking part in various fund raising events.
• We do all of this and more but one of our main goals is TO HAVE FUN.
What We Offer !!
• Whether you are a beginner looking to pick up an instrument for the first time or an experienced musician looking for new challenges, all are welcome and will be taught FREE OF CHARGE!
• We supply you with a full set of uniform including combats and ceremonial No1 dress.
• If you don't have an instrument there is no need to worry, we have a vast range of instrument that you can use, both in cadets and to take home to practice.
• We allow you to choose what instrument you would like to learn.
• You have the chance to travel and play at prestigious venues such as Monte Cassino Abbey and Berwick Tattoo.
• We attend camps all over the UK and Europe. This gives you a chance to play with other bands, see new places and meet hundreds of new people.
So What Can You Acheive ??
• As you progress through the ACF music syllabus you will achieve different star grades from 1-4 and finally earn the master cadet certificate
• If you show good commitment and leadership you can also earn promotions. using the same rank structure as the regular army you have the chance to lead others and set examples to other cadets.
• The ACF syllabus runs in tandem with the Duke of Edinburgh award and the BTEC First Diploma in public services, two qualifications that will help you in your future career, whether it be civilian or military.
