Duke of Edinburgh Award

Duke of Edinburgh Logo

This is the new logo for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award which is now known as the DofE. As well as the new logo you'll notice a few changes, the main ones being 'Service' is now called 'Volunteering' and First Aid is now a 'Skill'. Don't worry that your record books still show the old titles. It'll take a while for the new books to come on through and the ones you've got are still valid.

There's a new member on the DofE team. Capt M. Grey is now in HQ Company and one of his jobs is to help with the DofE in W and X companies. He's also going to be involved with expeditions so look out for details of Bronze expeditions during the Easter holidays, Silver on the first May Bank Holiday and Gold at annual camp. All the expeditions will also count as APC 2,3 and 4 Star qualify expeditions.

The twentieth North of England Cadet Gold Expedition trip will be run in Bavaria, travelling from the UK on 28th August, returning the 6th September. Cost will be £360  week including return travel, all food and accommodation in the DofE lodge in the village of Ortwang, camp site fees and a practice weekend in the Yorkshire Dales. Not included is the cost of your expedition food and cable cars if you decide to use them. For more details and a booking form contact Major Thompson at County HQ.
