SHOOTING in Northumbria
Shooting is a disciplined skill which Army Cadets can develop as part of their APC syllabus training.
Cadets develop their shooting skills progressively, starting with training and the safehandling of an air rifle and move up to the Light Support Weapon which fires 5.56mm rounds.
They are continually assessed on their safehandling skills and are not allowed to fire any weapon unless they have passed the appropriate level weapons handling test.
With training, dedication, discipline and commitment all cadets can use all the weapons in the cadet syllabus safely and some move onto the Target Rifle
Northumbria ACF has a small dedicated team of qualified intructors and coaches who are led by the Shooting Officer. A small core of cadets have shown exceptional skill and have performed to a verty high standard at the various shooting competitions which are open to cadets.
